PLADYFLEET presented at EMRA'18

The PLADYFLEET project was presented at EMRA'18 workshop as part of RAWFIE project by Assoc. prof. Stathes Hadjiefthymiades from the University of Athens. EMRA'18 workshop brought together a diverse range of speakers, from ongoing FP7/H2020 projects, industry, end-users, and stakeholders. The interdisciplinary event provided an excellent opportunity for networking and exchange of ideas in marine robotics, enabling technologies and applications.

RAWFIE presentation at International...

Prof. Zoran Vukić held a lecture "Ocean ICT Applications for New ASV" at International Oceanology 2018 in London on 14th March 2018. As part of Ocean ICT Enabling Enhanced Marine Sensing Command & Control session, he presented the application of unmanned surface vehicle in H2020 RAWFIE project. RAWFIE project provides research facilities for the Internet of Things (IoT) devices and ensures cloud-based worldwide marine experimentation. PlaDyFleet is a 3rd party in RAWFIE project.

aPad vehicle (also known se PlaDyPos)...

Our autonomous vehicle aPad (PlaDyPos) won a gold medal at International Trade Fair (IENA 2017) which was held from 2nd November until 5th November 2017 in Nuremberg, Germany. In the competition of more than 800 innovations from 31 countries of the world, LABUST won a gold medal for its aPad (PlaDyPos) product in the competition of the Universities, Faculties, and Institutions. The platform can be applied to different scientific areas such as underwater archeology, marine biology, maritime security, robotics, oceanography, mariculture, and hydrography. Founded in 1948, iENA has emerged the reputation as one of the world’s three top invention fairs, on par with the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva and the Invention and New Product Exposition in Pittsburgh.

Zoran Vukić and Antonio Vasilijević...

LABUST members once again organized the special session “Intelligent underwater systems and technologies” at 7th Conference on Marine Technology in memoriam of the academician Zlatko Winkler, held in Rijeka on November 17th, 2017. Papers at the special session were presented by Zoran Vukić and Antonio Vasilijević. Among other projects, the PlaDyFleet project and its recent results have been presented. The Conference is organised by Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Maritime studies - University of Rijeka, Croatia, and Association for Research and Development of Maritime Industries. The Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies (LABUST) participated in the International Convention on Information and Communication Technology, Electronics and Microelectronics - MIPRO as part of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing (FER). The conference was held from 22 to 26 May 2017 in Opatija, Croatia. The poster of the PLADYFLEET project was presented in the MIPRO projects exhibition.

Training for RAWFIE testbed operators

Training for testbed operators took place in Bremen, Germany, during the UNIZG-FER visit to DFKI on 24th of May 2017. The training was attended by participants from both testbeds, DFKI Germany and MoD Greece, where PlaDyPos USVs will be at disposal for RAWFIE experimenters. The training, conducted by Antonio Vasilijević, covered all topics important for successful operation of the PlaDyPos USVs, from deployment/recovery procedures, manual and remote operation, to basic maintenance.

7 PlaDyPos USVs delivered to DFKI Bremen

UNIZG-FER LABUST members Đula Nađ, Filip Mandić and Antonio Vasilijević visited the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) in Bremen, Germany, from 22 to 24 May 2017. During the visit, the first seven PlaDyPos vehicles were successfully integrated to the RAWFIE testbed infrastructure and delivered to the DFKI.

First experiments with PlaDyPos

First experiments of the PlaDyPos in an indoor pool have taken place during March 2017. Manual operation and sensors performance were tested. Image and video stream show output from HD camera and depth image output, used for obstacle detection.

Nikola Mišković gave an invited talk "What are underwater robots used for?" at the Zagreb Energy Conference on 9th December 2016 at the Faculty of Electrical engineering and Computing, Croatia, using PlaDyPos USV as an example.

The Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies (LABUST) participated on University of Zagreb Fair 2016 as part of the Faculty of electrical engineering and computing (FER) among more than 30 faculties. University of Zagreb Fair 2016 was held from 17th until 19th November 2016 in Zagreb, Croatia

 

LABUST members Anja Babić, Filip Mandić, Ivan Lončar and Marin Stipanov presented PlaDyFleet project and the first surface vehicle PlaDyPos.

 

High attendance of high school students, young faculty students and other interested parties helped in spreading awareness about research potentials in underwater systems and mobile robotics in general.

PlaDyFleet presentation at the...

Project Manager Ivana Mikolić held an invited talk on 10th November 2016 at Project Management Forum organized by Croatian chapter of Project Management Institute (PMI Hrvatska) with the topic of how to get and implement a successful EU project.

 

She discussed the main project management characteristics at the public institution with business representatives and through it, presented all LABUST EU projects.

Kick-off meeting in Athens, 23.09.2016

PlaDyFleet project coordinator Antonio Vasilijević (UNIZG-FER LABUST) participated in Road-, Air- and Water-based Future Internet Experimentation - RAWFIE (GA 645220) Workshop OC1 for recipients of financial support through RAWFIE open call RAWFIE-INFRASTRUCTURE-2016. The workshop was organised in a form of a kick-off meeting for all selected proposals.

 

RAWFIE Workshop OC1 was held on 23rd September 2016 at the premises of the RAWFIE Project Coordinator - Department of Informatics & Telecommunications, University of Athens (Greece).

LABUST creating 10 surface platforms...

Laboratory for Underwater Systems and Technologies – LABUST from UNIZG-FER has been awarded with funding through an open call RAWFIE-INFRASTRUCTURE-2016 for recipients of financial support. Open call was launched by project Road-, Air-, Water-based Future Internet Experimentation - RAWFIE, co-funded from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 645220.

 

We competed alongside 20 other proposers with our project PlaDyFleet - A fleet of unmanned surface marine vehicles PlaDyPos. PlaDyFleet officially started on 1st October 2016 and in the following 28 months we will deliver a fleet of 10 unmanned surface vehicles PlaDyPos.
